As we always remind our readers when reviewing a home we’ve been in recently, Just For Buyers Realty is an Exclusive Buyers Agency. We don’t take listings or work for the sellers, so our reviews are more balanced, highlighting both the pros and cons of a property.
Recently, I had the opportunity to tour 8108 Bald Eagle Lane, a 0.55 acre lot featuring a 4,800 square foot beauty built by Logan Homes in 2015. This home is currently listed for $2,495,000. This waterfront, low country style home with cedar exterior, wood ceilings, and helicopter fans make the 1,300 square feet of covered porches a sight to behold!
Upon entering the home the 10’ ceilings and open floorplan (which include the great room, dining room, sunroom, and kitchen) lead you to windows, windows, and more windows. I believe that is key when purchasing a home with this kind of view! The walk-in double coat closet, wine cellar with temperature regulator, butler’s pantry with nickel sink, food pantry with shelves and baskets from floor to ceiling, and a kitchen with granite counters and high end appliances lead me to believe this home was built with the entertainer in mind.
The master bedroom is on the main floor with doors leading to an uncovered portion of the rear deck. The master bathroom shower is something special with six body jets on each side and two overhead rainfall showerheads. The shower also had two entrances: one facing the bathroom entrance from the bedroom, and the other on the opposite side so you can enter/exit from the closet. Very convenient! One thing that caught me off guard from this magnificent shower was the placement of three large windows. They are directly in front of the shower facing the driveway in front of the home. No window coverings and your neighbors will get to know you a little too well. Deal breaker? Not at all, I just found it odd.
The upstairs features three bedrooms each with their own full bathroom. From my previous comments you are probably expecting the skies to open and hear angels sing, however the bedrooms were normal; good size, nice quality, but no swoon-worthy features. Upstairs there is also a TV room. The TV room and one bedroom grant access to the second floor covered porch. There is also FROG/in-law suite with a private bathroom and private staircase.
And last, the three car attached garage. The extra space is nice for families with an additional driver. There is also a storage closet which houses two hot water heaters, which is a helpful feature if you have a large family or several guests.
An interesting note on this house, Porters Neck Property Investments purchased the 1.09 acres bluff lot (outside of the flood plain) in November 2014 for $1.6M, then chose to divide the property into two separate lots: 8104 and 8108. We can all appreciate a good investment so without going in to too much detail, let me give a high five to Porters Neck for a great investment! Both lots sit directly on the Intracoastal Waterway with private piers, boatslips, and views of Figure Eight Island and the Atlantic Ocean. The vacant lot, 8104 Bald Eagle Lane sold in November 2015.
In case you are new to Wilmington, Porters Neck Plantation is located in the northeastern tip of New Hanover County, running parallel with the Intracoastal Waterway. This meticulously groomed community consists of 13 neighborhoods. For a membership fee, residents may choose to join Porters Neck Country Club which offers state-of-the-art tennis courts, a swimming complex and fitness center, and social activities for people of all ages. Another selling point to this community is the golf course. This course was designed by Tom Fazio to challenge the “social golfer” as well as the seasoned professional. Residents also have access to a community boat ramp.
