Carolina Beach is one step closer to welcoming a major new addition to its oceanfront skyline. A proposal for a four-story, 140-room hotel recently earned approval from the town’s zoning and planning commission — but the final decision now rests with the Carolina Beach Town Council, which is set to vote on the project November 12.
The development, proposed by Harmony Hospitality, would occupy one of the few remaining undeveloped parcels along the beach. The hotel plan includes ground-level parking, an oceanfront restaurant and ballroom, and even a pedestrian bridge connecting guests directly to a nearby beachfront pavilion.
Earlier versions of the project drew mixed feedback from residents, largely centered on its original height of over 100 feet. In response, developers revised the design, reducing its height to 66 feet and adjusting other elements to better fit the look and feel of Carolina Beach’s coastal charm.
If the council gives the green light next month, construction could begin as early as spring. Town leaders have said that the project reflects the community’s continued growth and appeal — both as a year-round destination and as a place people increasingly want to call home.
Carolina Beach’s oceanfront remains a hot spot for real estate activity, and new developments like this hotel could have a ripple effect on nearby property values, tourism, and local businesses. Whether you’re a buyer, investor, or longtime local, this is one project worth watching.
