Million+ Dollar Homes Sales Up Significantly
Sales of luxury homes, defined as houses selling for more than one million dollars, exploded in Brunswick County in 2015. Thirty-five luxury homes sold there in 2015, up slightly more than 100% over the 17 sales in 2014.
Other signs supporting the strong growth in upscale housing sales in Brunswick County included a 24% reduction in the average time it took for such homes to sell and an average increase of 4.7% in sales price, compared to 2014.
While the number of luxury home sales in New Hanover County did not double, they were up a healthy 9.5% in 2015. Most notable was the 14% increase in selling prices, jumping from $1.5 million in 2014 to $1.7 million this past year.
The single most expensive property to sell in New Hanover County was 217 South Lumina Avenue in Wrightsville Beach which sold for $3,475,000. It was purchased by investors who have relisted it several ways. The new owners are offering the entire property for $4.9 million, or half of the property for $2.5 million, or one of four yet-to-be-built duplex style condos for prices ranging from $2.5 to $3.4 million.
In Brunswick County, 5 Seaton Court on Bald Head Island was the most expensive home to sell in 2015. It sold for $2,569,000 last June.
