With the first six months of 2022 now in the books, we thought it would be the perfect time to do a deep dive into the numbers. Our staff conducted a study of every home sold so far this year. We broke the numbers down into the 29 largest towns in the Cape Fear region. We then ranked these areas based on average price. (In the table below you will notice we also recorded the average price per square foot.) To no one’s surprise the most expensive averages were found in beach communities, and the lowest were located in more rural areas. Still, there were some numbers that did raise our eyebrows. For instance, we didn’t expect that the highest non beach community would be Belville. We were also shocked to see that in the battle of the bedroom communities, that the average price in Hampstead is now more than $60,000 more expensive than it is in Leland. The numbers and rankings will obviously change in the next six months, but hopefully this study will help provide some insight on each area and where your money will go the furthest.
