In September we L.O.V.E. the Dragons!
One of the most colorful events of September is the Dragon Boat Regatta and Festival at Carolina Beach. This two day event is a rowing competition with each vessel designed with an elaborate dragon head. The festival also features live music, vendor tents, children’s activities, refreshments and zany entertainment of all sorts. Admission will be free. Check out this photo gallery of past regattas.
Update: The Chefs are Coming to Burgaw and One Will Stay to Set Up Shop
A total of 24 finalists will take part in a competition for a chance to own a restaurant in downtown Burgaw. The Chefs will be coming from as far away as Canada, Michigan, Ohio, New York, New Jersey and California. Their first competition will be held in October. Learn more
Restoration of the OId Baldy Lighthouse to Start this Fall
Old Baldy – the lighthouse on Bald Head Island – is about to get a massive facelift. The repairs will include interior masonry and exterior stucco repairs, replacing a historic railing, and conducting an archaeological study around the base of the lighthouse. Read more
