If we’re honest; neighborhoods aren’t what they used to be… or maybe we should say neighbors aren’t what they used to be.
Earlier this year, Pew Research released a study that may shock you, especially if you grew up in an era where you rode your bike up and down the neighborhoods and got to know all the families that surround you. According to Pew, only three out of 10 Americans say they have a close friendship with one of their neighbors. Only one out of ten Americans say they have friendships with multiple neighbors.
Well, if you’re looking for a neighborhood that’s not just a subdivision but an actual community, Just For Buyer’s Jennifer Reinholt stumbled upon a development you should know about. It’s called Eagle Run. The neighborhood is in southern Brunswick County in the Carolina Shores/ Calabash area.
“I visited with a client who happened to be single and would be relocating from out of state. She told me it was very important to find an area where the neighbors actually interacted with each other.”
There were several reasons Jennifer took her client to Eagle’s Run. First off, it checked many of the items on her wish list. It’s a newer neighborhood. Construction (by Plute Homes) began in the area in 2021 and is not supposed to be fully built out until 2025. Obviously, the price point fit into the client’s budget- this year the average sale of a home in the neighborhood was under $400,000. Plus, each home comes with granite countertops, tall ceilings, LVP flooring, and in some cases, stainless steel appliances. There was also a community pool – all these items and more checked the important boxes.
But the big selling point was the clubs! The residents of Eagle Run are very social with each other and have formed many different organizations:
“There’s a wine club, there are several book clubs, they even do a Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day block party,” said Jennifer. “My favorite event is they do an occasional pub crawl where each home opens its doors and neighbors go from house to house having a beverage. You know it’s the type of place where everyone keeps their garage doors and front doors open, and they just really do live together.”
Eagle Run is perfect for people looking to downsize. It is surrounded by exceptional golf courses and fishing holes. The neighborhood is much closer to Myrtle Beach- only a 15-minute drive to the strip. By contrast, it is slightly more than an hour away from downtown Wilmington.
Kids in the neighborhood attend Jesse Mae Monroe Elementary, Shallotte Middle, and West Brunswick High School.
