At Just For Buyers Realty, we’re all about that L.O.V.E. life—Living On Vacation Every day! Each of our agents has made the leap to this area from somewhere else, and let me tell you, we’ve all fallen head over heels for it.
Now, let me tell you about an event in April that’s right up our alley: the Gator Festival in Lake Waccamaw. Picture this: a quaint little town in Columbus County, just a short 50-minute jaunt west of Wilmington, boasting a massive 9,000-square-foot lake that stretches over 5 miles long and 3 miles wide. That’s Lake Waccamaw for you—a paradise for fishing, boating, and yes, even swimming (despite the gators lounging around).
Now, you might think those gators would scare folks away from taking a dip, but think again! Last year, the town decided to embrace its scaly residents with the first-ever Alligator Festival—and guess what? It was such a hit that they’re doing it all over again this year!
Mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, and head on down to Columbia Avenue for the festivities. Friday kicks off with live music and food trucks at 6 p.m., leading up to a killer headliner concert. Then, bright and early on Saturday at 8 a.m., lace up your running shoes for the Gator Fest Run, featuring a 1-mile family fun run and a 5k race for the more competitive types. And that’s not all—Saturday also brings local artists and makers with their handmade crafts and goodies starting at 10 a.m. Plus, groove to the tunes of the Pink Slips at 5:30 p.m. It’s a weekend you won’t want to miss!
