If you’re in the market for a new construction property in southeastern North Carolina, there’s an event in May that will give you a chance to see a variety of different designs and concepts from several area builders. But if you go, just make sure that you let them know that you’re already working with an agent.
For nearly 40 years, the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association (WCFHBA) has showcased the region’s newest homes and communities through the annual Parade of Homes. This year’s Parade will showcase homes in all three counties of the Wilmington metropolitan area: New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties. Nearly thirty builders, including many offering custom-built options, take part in the Parade.

The Parade is the ultimate opportunity to view a variety of new homes built by talented local builders, all of whom are members of WCFHBA. Whether you are a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, the Parade is sure to have something that will catch your eye. Want a home close to the beach, downtown, or right on the golf course? Looking for a neighborhood with multiple amenities? Looking to upgrade to a larger space or downsize for less maintenance? No matter what home style you are considering, you will find what you are looking for in this year’s Parade.
But, as a reminder to buyers, the folks taking you on the tour work for the builders and sellers. If you do not intentionally inform them that you are already working with a real estate agent, North Carolina law makes it very hard to get representation after you have already been introduced to a community and have walked through homes. All you have to do to protect your rights and make sure someone is fighting on your behalf at the negotiation table is simply notify the folks giving you the tour that you are already working with an agent.
This year’s Parade of Homes will take place on May 4th and May 5th. For more information, check out the WCFHBA website here.
