A total of 95 homes, each priced at $1 million or more, sold last month for a total volume of $170,693,839. This far outpaced May of last year when only 69 luxury homes closed for a collective $110,000,000 and outpaced May of 2021 (the previous most profitable month ever) when 71 luxury homes sold for $127,000,000.
“May has given us a lot to celebrate,” said Scott Saxton of Just for Buyers Realty. “But this entire year has been moving at a record pace. If we didn’t see another luxury home sell for the rest of the year, 2024 would still go down as the fifth best year ever. That is how impressive these first five months have been.”
The most expensive home to sell last month is located at 423 S. Lumina Avenue on Wrightsville Beach Road. The Hamptons-inspired, oceanfront home measures nearly 7,000 square feet and offers eight bedrooms with eight full bathrooms and two half bathrooms. It was listed by Jessica Pirone and Rebecca Dawson of Full Circle Realty. The home closed on May 22 for $9,250,000, marking the most expensive sale of 2024 so far.
