At JFB L.O.V.E. stands for Living On Vacation Everyday. One of things that gives us that sense of being vacation is celebrating the heritage and history of other cultures.

The Cape Fear region is a melting pot of cultures from around the world, and each November, this rich diversity is showcased with a special celebration at the Polish Festival in Castle Hayne. For one day locals and folks from all over North Carolina immerse themselves in the sounds, tastes, and heritage of Poland, right here in the heart of the South. It’s a lively, family-friendly event with the warmth and vibrancy of Polish culture through food, music, and traditions that have been passed down for generations.
The festival offers an authentic taste of Poland with juicy Kielbasa, savory Pierogi stuffed with potatoes, cheese, or meat, and perfectly seasoned Golabki—delicious cabbage rolls that are a staple of Polish cooking. There’s also Placki Ziemniaczane, crispy potato pancakes that are golden brown on the outside and soft on the inside, typically served with a dollop of sour cream. And, of course, no Polish meal would be complete without something sweet, so save room for Kruschiki, Kolachki, Nut Rolls, Poppyseed Rolls, and Strudel.

The festival will have a selection of both domestic and Polish beers, including a special treat brewed right here in Wilmington. St. Stan’s Baltic Porter, crafted by Front Street Brewery specifically for the Polish Festival, will be flowing. It’s a rich, hearty beer that pairs perfectly with those flavorful Polish dishes, adding to the authenticity of the experience.
The festival will also include an authentic Blaskapelle band, with its traditional Polish brass sounds, a craft sale, and several raffles for a chance to win some exciting prizes.
This year the Polish Festival will take place on Nov. 2, 2024 from 11 am – 5pm at the Sain Stanislaus Catholic Church on 4849 Castle Hayne Road. Click here to view the event website.
