Wilmington has rightfully earned its reputation as “Hollywood East,” with countless local spots making their way onto the big and small screens. Now, you have a chance to own a piece of that history—literally.
A house that played a starring role in Dawson’s Creek is hitting the auction block.
For fans of the hit WB series, this is a rare opportunity. Dawson’s Creek filmed in Wilmington from 1998 to 2003, showcasing iconic locations like Screen Gems Studios, Black Cat Shoppe, and Thalian Hall. But for die-hard fans, one of the most memorable spots was the home of Joey Potter, played by Katie Holmes. And now, that very house is up for grabs—well, sort of.

The house is being auctioned off by Luther Bros Auction Company, but there’s a catch: it comes without the land. That means whoever wins the auction will need to arrange and cover the cost of relocating the structure.
According to the auction company’s listing:
“This is a personal property auction – the house MUST be moved from its current location. The land is not included in the sale. The winning bidder will be responsible for all costs and logistics associated with relocating the structure.”
If you’re interested in seeing this piece of TV history in person, there will be several open house events:
- Sunday, March 9 | 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, March 12 | 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Saturday, March 15 | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Bidding starts at $25,000 and will take place online, opening Friday, Feb. 21, and closing Saturday, March 21, at 5:00 p.m.
So, if you’ve ever dreamed of owning a little piece of Capeside (even if you have to move it), now’s your chance!
