We Have a Queen Bethany Joy Lenz to Reign Over the North Carolina Azalea Festival
The North Carolina Azalea Festival has crowned its 78th queen, and it’s a name many Wilmington fans will recognize—Bethany Joy Lenz. The One Tree Hill star, who spent years in the Port City filming the beloved series, returns to reign over the biggest event of the year. Taking place April 2-6, the festival is a five-day celebration filled with concerts, a grand parade, a street fair, fireworks, and stunning garden tours. Whether you’re a longtime attendee or a first-time visitor, this year’s festivities promise to be unforgettable.
If Florida Wasn’t for You, Give North Carolina a Try
For years, Florida has been a top retirement destination, but a growing number of residents are packing up and leaving. In New Hanover, a charming Craftsman cottage in Midtown Wilmington offers modern upgrades and a prime location near UNCW. Over in Brunswick County, a fully renovated Oak Island home boasts luxury finishes and stunning Intracoastal Waterway views. Meanwhile, Pender County features a stunning custom-built home in Hampstead’s Pecan Grove Plantation, and Onslow County brings beachfront living to life with an oceanfront escape on North Topsail Beach.

JFB Growth and Development Tracker
Big things are in the works throughout the Cape Fear region and one of the most exciting developments is the push to bring professional soccer to Wilnmington. A group called USL to Wilmington has already raised $400,000 and is working to secure investors to bring a pro soccer club to the Port City by 2027. If successful, Wilmington could soon have its own team competing in USL League One, with a stadium seating at least 5,000 fans. Check out our latest Growth & Development Tracker for more on this and other projects shaping our community. Read more here.
