Whether you’re soaking in the views or searching for the perfect waterfront café, these walkways have a way of making life feel a little sweeter.
And now, two of our own beloved coastal spots—the Wilmington Riverwalk and the Carolina Beach Boardwalk—are in the running for national recognition in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
Best Riverwalk
The Wilmington Riverwalk has long been a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Lined with more than 200 cafes, bars, and shops, it’s a perfect place to grab a bite, enjoy live music, or simply take in the stunning views of the Cape Fear River. It’s also home to the annual Riverfest each October, a celebration that brings the community together for entertainment, food, and fun. Now, Wilmington’s scenic riverfront has a chance to be named one of the country’s best.
Best Boardwalk
Over at Carolina Beach, the Boardwalk is buzzing with energy year-round. From its iconic seaside amusement park to its collection of shops, restaurants, and bars, this spot embodies the classic beach town experience. Summer nights come alive with live music and fireworks, while winter visitors get to enjoy a festive lights display in December. It’s a place where families, couples, and friends can create lasting memories by the shore.
