For years, several lots along McRae Street in Wilmington’s Northside have sat vacant. That’s about to change.
A new community project, known as the Downtown Wilmington Collective, is bringing fresh housing options to this historic area. Plans include a mix of single-family homes and townhomes designed with modern interiors and functionality.
Robuck Homes, a trusted North Carolina builder since 1926, is leading the effort and expects to break ground this summer. In addition to building homes, the project emphasizes creating a sense of community. With its location just a short walk from the Brooklyn Arts District and the downtown Riverwalk, future residents will have easy access to shopping, dining, and local events.
Construction is planned between Fanning and Walnut streets. Single-family homes are slated for 418, 420, and 712 McRae Street, while 512 McRae Street will feature six townhomes. Prices for these new homes are expected to start in the $400,000s.
“As Wilmington continues to grow, finding available space can be a challenge,” said Chip Bishop, general manager of Robuck Homes. “We’re excited to offer new homes in such a historic part of the city and are committed to being a positive part of this neighborhood’s story.”
The Downtown Wilmington Collective is part of a larger transformation happening throughout the Northside — a revitalization effort that has sparked both excitement and debate within the community.
