If you needed another excuse to treat yourself this fall, here it is: Burger Week is returning September 15–21, and it’s bigger than ever. More than 25 restaurants across the region — from Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach to downtown Wilmington, Leland, and even Sneads Ferry — are firing up the grills and serving up special creations for one delicious week.
Burger Week is part of the Port City Taste lineup of local dining events that shine a spotlight on the area’s food scene and encourage supporting local businesses. Eating local doesn’t just taste good — it does good. Studies show that when you spend $100 at a local spot, about $68 stays right here in the community, strengthening the local economy.
Since kicking off in 2021, Burger Week has grown into a fan favorite. This year, diners can choose from nearly 30 unique burgers — some tried-and-true classics, others wildly creative. Expect everything from a loaded jalapeño mac-and-cheese burger to Mediterranean and Moroccan-inspired flavors, to over-the-top combos like blueberry bacon jam with jalapeño poppers. Prices range from under $10 to $25, so there’s truly something for every appetite and budget.
Joining in couldn’t be easier. No tickets, no coupons, no secret codes — just show up at a participating restaurant, ask for the Burger Week menu, and dig in.
There’s even a competitive twist: diners can cast a vote for their favorite creation of the week by texting in a code from the menu. It’s bragging rights for the chefs, and a fun way for locals to support their favorite spots.
Here’s a small taste of what’s on the menu this year:
-
Downtown Wilmington: Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Hell’s Kitchen, Front Street Brewery, YoSake, and more
-
Midtown: Henry’s, Casa Encanto, Wicked Bitez, Carolina Ale House
-
North Wilmington: Brasserie du Soleil, Middle Sound Grille, Drift Coffee & Kitchen
-
Beaches: Poe’s Tavern at Wrightsville Beach, Pop’s Diner and Stoked in Carolina Beach
-
Beyond: Al’s Burger Shack in Leland, Nineteen Restaurant in Hampstead, The Bottle Rocket in Sneads Ferry
With so many options, you might just need the whole week to try them all.
