It’s hard to imagine Wilmington without Greenfield Park. With its tree-lined trails, iconic lake views, and the sounds of nature mixing with the hum of the city, it’s one of those rare places where you can truly breathe — without ever leaving town.
And this fall, the park that’s brought a century of peace, play, and picnics to our community is turning 100!
The City of Wilmington’s Parks & Recreation Department is inviting everyone to join in the Centennial Celebration on Friday, November 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Expect a little bit of everything that makes this park so special — community spirit, local flavor, and plenty of fun for all ages. The event will include:
-
Remarks from local leaders and groups like the Rotary Club, REV Credit Union, and the Cape Fear Garden Club
-
A special time capsule ceremony
-
A bounce house for the kids
-
Local vendors and food trucks serving up crowd favorites
Greenfield Park isn’t just a park — it’s a Wilmington landmark. With its scenic walking and biking trails circling beautiful Greenfield Lake, it’s long been a favorite spot for morning jogs, kayak adventures, outdoor concerts, and quiet sunset moments. Generations of Wilmington families have made memories here, and now it’s time to make a few more.
So, mark your calendar and come celebrate 100 years of one of Wilmington’s true treasures — where nature, community, and history all come together under the oaks.
