If you live in the Cape Fear region, you already know that Airlie Gardens is one of our community’s crown jewels — and every holiday season, it transforms into pure magic.
We’re talking, of course, about Enchanted Airlie, the dazzling holiday light show that brings thousands of visitors to Wilmington each year. It’s festive, it’s family-friendly, and it’s the one event where tickets disappear faster than you can say “Merry Christmas.”
This year’s Enchanted Airlie runs November 28–29 and December 1–21, with four time slots available each evening (5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m.). Guests drive through the gardens to see millions of sparkling lights, listen to holiday music, sip hot cocoa, and take in the joyful atmosphere that has become a beloved local tradition.
But here’s the big news — tickets go on sale tomorrow, and if you’ve ever tried to get them before, you know this isn’t something to put off until later.
When and How to Get Tickets
If you’re an Airlie Gardens member, you get first dibs. Members at the Azalea, Camellia, and Magnolia levels can start purchasing tickets beginning Wednesday, October 8. Family and Individual members follow on October 15, and the general public can join the fun starting October 22 — all beginning at 9 a.m.
Tickets are available online only at AirlieGardens.org, or you can purchase them in person at the garden if you’d rather skip the virtual waiting room.
Ticket Prices
-
Carload (standard vehicles) – $35
-
XL Vans (up to 11 passengers) – $65
-
Groups (12 or more) – $85 for nonprofits or $125 for others
Keep in mind: everyone must enter by car or vehicle — no walk-ins or bicycles allowed.
A Few Helpful Tips
Because tickets sell out fast, the folks at Airlie suggest a few pro moves:
-
Have your membership number or credit card ready.
-
Pick a backup date or time in case your first choice fills up.
-
Coordinate early with friends and family.
-
If buying online, try multiple browsers and don’t refresh too often — it could bump you from the queue.
However you get your tickets, you’ll be glad you did. Enchanted Airlie isn’t just another holiday event — it’s a celebration of light, nature, and community that reminds us why we love living here.
And while you’re in the Wilmington area this season, maybe it’s time to picture yourself here year-round.
