Wilmington has long been known as a city that thrives on creativity. From the theater stages downtown to intimate bars where singer-songwriters pour out their souls, live performances have always been part of the city’s heartbeat. Music drifts through riverfront venues, coffeehouses, and outdoor festivals nearly every night of the week. And now, that same creative spirit is taking flight — quite literally — as it comes to Wilmington International Airport (ILM).
The airport has announced a new live music initiative called “ILM Rhythms & Tunes,” which will feature local musicians from across the Cape Fear region performing right inside the terminal. Passengers can enjoy two-hour live sets near the laurel oak sculpture, turning the airport into more than just a gateway — it becomes a stage.
“Our community is known for having great live music and lots of local talent,” said ILM Airport Director Jeff Bourk. “By showcasing these local artists in ILM, we have a chance to highlight that talent right here in the airport. It’s also another way for us to continue to enhance the traveler experience.”

Whether you’re flying out for business, heading home for the holidays, or welcoming visitors to the Port City, ILM Rhythms & Tunes adds a local touch to the travel experience. It’s a celebration of Wilmington’s sound — one more reminder that creativity doesn’t stop at the city limits.
