If you’re from up North, this might not immediately register as headline news.
But if you grew up in North Carolina — or anywhere in the South where breakfast is practically a religion — you know this is a big deal.
Biscuitville is officially opening its first location in the Cape Fear region, bringing its made-from-scratch biscuits to Brunswick County later this month.
The new restaurant will open in Shallotte at 4425 Main Street, next to Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for February 23 at 2:15 p.m., marking the chain’s first step into southeastern North Carolina’s coastal communities.
For longtime fans, it’s been a long time coming.
Founded in 1975, the company has deep Southern roots. While it got its start in Danville, Virginia, it’s now headquartered in Greensboro and operates roughly 85 locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Over the past decade, the brand — now known as Biscuitville Fresh Southern — has grown significantly, tripling revenue and expanding its footprint while remaining family-owned and privately operated.
And yes, the biscuits are still made the old-fashioned way.
Every 15 minutes, dough is rolled, cut, and baked fresh in-store using a simple recipe built around locally milled flour, fresh buttermilk, and shortening. Guests can actually watch the process through the restaurant’s biscuit window — a detail that loyal customers love.
The Shallotte location will be about 2,800 square feet, seat just over 55 guests, and include a drive-through. Like other Biscuitville restaurants, it will open early — 5 a.m. — and close at 2 p.m., keeping the focus squarely on breakfast and early lunch.
The menu features about two dozen biscuit sandwiches, from the classic bacon, egg and cheese (the top seller) to combinations featuring sausage, ham, steak, chicken, or pork. There are also breakfast platters, pancakes, muffins, seasonal specials, coffee, sweet tea — and yes, the much-loved hashbrown casserole.
The opening marks the brand’s first coastal location in southeastern North Carolina. A second Brunswick County location is already planned on Southport-Supply Road, expected to open in summer 2026.
To celebrate the Shallotte debut, the company is giving locals a chance to win free breakfast for a year, with ten winners receiving weekly combo coupons.
For some, it’s just another fast-food opening.
For others, especially those who grew up grabbing biscuits before school or road trips, it feels a little more like home arriving at the beach.
