A new master plan development is under consideration by Pender County planning officials this month. Paramounte Engineering Inc. of Wilmington submitted the plans for more than 980 acres bordering the Northeast Cape Fear River in Rocky Point, north and south of NC Highway 210, at the intersection of Moore Town Road. If approved, the community, called Lane’s Ferry Landing, would consist of about 2,000 single-family homes, 600 attached and multi-family units, a marina, commercial space, and potentially a new Pender County elementary school
Plans for the 988-acre space include 62 acres of wetlands that will not be developed and 59 acres reserved as open space. Also proposed are a community boat launch, a park with pedestrian corridor, multiple ponds, and commercial space that could be used for offices and retail shops. If approved, construction for Lane’s Ferry Landing could begin in the fourth quarter of 2015, with new home construction starting in the first quarter of 2016. Development is expected to last 10-15 years, depending on demand.
