Located along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway on the coast of Wilmington NC, the gated community of Helms Port offers homeowners all of the romantic attributes and elegant amenities more traditionally reserved for some of the country’s most luxurious vacation destinations. In fact, this area has been a prestigious place to live in Wilmington since the late 1800s where it was filled with a tree farm, a pecan grove, and men and women participating in sailing races on the water.
If you’re in the market for real estate in Wilmington NC but you’re not sure which community best fits your needs, Just For Buyers Realty’s neighborhood reviews can help. Here is our neighborhood review of Helms Port.
Waterfront Living in Helms Port
Helms Port is an exclusive Logan Homes community comprised of three distinct neighborhoods featuring a total of 159 home sites. The neighborhoods include Saylor’s Haven, Kathryn’s Retreat, and Parker Shores. Many of the homes in these neighborhoods sport waterfront views, especially those in the Parker Shores part of the community.
Among the three neighborhoods, Saylor’s Haven is the least expensive with home prices starting in the $400s. Homes in Saylor’s Haven are built in the coastal cottage/low country design complete with front porches, coastal color palettes, and open floorplans.
In Kathryn’s Retreat, homes are slightly more luxurious in nature with the architecture in this part of Hems Port being more of a mixed bag. Homes here are set among mature pecan trees where they boast sprawling porches, pond views, sunrooms, and large master suites. Home prices in Kathryn’s Retreat start in the $500s.
Upon entering the community’s gated entrance off of Masonboro Loop Road, Saylor’s Haven will be to the left and Kathryn’s Retreat starts along the right side and expands deeper into the community. You have to drive through Kathryn’s Retreat to reach Parkers Shores.
Meanwhile, in Parker Shores, home prices start in the $900’s with many having panoramic views of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.
Helms Port’s Amenities
Helms Port offers plenty of amenities for those who call the community home. It has a private beach, a 75-slip marina, a 3,500 square foot clubhouse with a resort-style swimming pool, an outdoor fire pit and public gathering area, and a convenient kayak launch, just to name a few.
It is important to note that in order to reach the community’s private beach or its marina, you will have to walk or drive through all three communities because Parker Shores is the only neighborhood that butts up against these amenities.
