Calabash Lakes is an amenity-rich community located on a 164 acre track off Thomasboro Road in southern Brunswick County. It is technically in the town of Carolina Shores, but the community gets its name because it features several manmade lakes and because it is in close proximity to downtown Calabash.
Construction of the community started in late 2007. Development briefly stopped during the housing market crisis but picked back a couple of years later with the first homes be occupied in 2010.
Presently the neighborhood includes 103 single family homes, 264 townhouses and 86 duplexes.
The multi-family structures offer between two and four bedrooms and measure between 1,000 square feet to 2,000 square feet. Because the HOA for these structures covers lawn care, the annual dues are a little bit more expensive. Depending on the unit annual fees can run between $3,000 and $3,500.
The single family homes come in both single and two stories. They offer between three and five bedrooms with most of the homes providing three bathrooms. The HOA in this section of Calabash Lakes does not cover lawn care. Homeowners are charged an annual amount of $1,926.
Amenities in the community include a large outdoor pool, clubhouse with fitness center, four tennis courts, and several community green spaces.
In the last 12 months a total of 14 homes have sold in Calabash Lakes for an average price of $289,857.
Calabash Lakes is located in the Jesse Mae Monroe Elementary, Shallotte Middle, West Brunswick High school District.
