Around Wilmington Emerald Forest is known for its Christmas spirit. The traffic in this subdivision greatly increases between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. Motorists come to check out the decorations and to gage the competitive nature of the residents. Year after year it is almost always the residents of just five homes in a cul-da-sac off Oyster Lane that take the top honor. Those home owners work together on a collective design that changes every year.
The atmosphere during the holiday season captures the family friendly environment that exists in Emerald Forest 365 days a year. This is a middle class neighborhood in the Ogden part of town with no HOA. Homes range from 1,500 square feet to just under 3,000.
At the front of Emerald Forest, near Middle Sound Loop Road, almost all the homes are center hall colonials. Ranch style homes become more prevalent in the back of the subdivision. Many of the homes in the neighborhood have privacy fences, and several back up to a small wooded area.
In 2020,sixteen homes sold in the neighborhood with a median price of $319,500.
