Kure Estates is an upscale beach community located south of Carolina Beach, off Fort Fisher Boulevard. The neighborhood includes 85 lots, most of which were built in the mid-1990s and early 2000s. The homes are beach houses built on pilings and painted light colors.
Residents are primarily families and retirees, about half of which live in the neighborhood full time. The neighborhood does permit short-term rentals, but they do not occur often.
The neighborhood maintains a sense of community with a self-managed homeowners association that oversees a pool and pool house. Residents decorate bikes, pets, and golf carts for an annual 4th of July parade. The neighborhood also has an oceanfront gazebo and a small parking lot for beachgoers.
Kure Estates is about 15 miles from Downtown Wilmington and farther than some communities from major shopping centers. However, residents enjoy little neighborhood traffic and are within walking distance from Kure Beach Pier. In 2020 five homes sold in the neighborhood with a median price of $550,000.
