Porter’s Neck Plantation is a gated community, consisting of 13 neighborhoods, located off Porters Neck Road and Bald Eagle Lane, about four miles north of Wilmington. The community is large, consisting of 625 homes spread over 750 acres.
Located near the Intracoastal Waterway, this gated community includes forests, ponds, creeks, and trails. The homes feature lush landscaping and range from low-maintenance patio homes to estate homes. Development began in 1991, and there are a few lots still available for development.
Homes located along the Intracoastal Waterway have boat slips, but all residents have access to the water through the community boat ramp.
The Porter’s Neck Home Owners Association consists of 6 neighborhoods – Eagles Ridge, Carnoustie, Woodlands, Edgewood, Glen Oaks and Jupiter Hills. Seven other neighborhoods have their own, mini associations – Champions Row, Emerald Dunes, Fairway Commons, Hunters Green, Masters Ridge, Village on Five, and Belair. The mini associations allow residents to share landscaping services at an extra cost.
Although originally designed to cater to retirees, Porter’s Neck Plantation is a fast-growing community that is also home to many families. Neighborhoods vary in style and amenities.
Residents that choose to join the Porter’s Neck Country Club enjoy social activities, a swimming pool, sports center, and a golf course designed by Tom Fazio.
Porter’s Neck Plantation is located 11 miles from Wrightsville Beach and about 14 miles from Downtown Wilmington. The community is close to the newer shopping centers of Mayfaire Town Center and Lumina Station.
