Four Local Towns Make List of Best Places to Retire
Whether retirement is just around the corner, or still several years away, it’s always fun to fantasize about your future. The online magazine Moneywise recently set out to discover the places on the east coast where your retirement dollar will go the farthest. They put together a list of the top 50 locations, including four in the Cape Fear region. Learn more.
Average Price Decreases for First Time in 3 years
Since 2022, at the start of the pandemic, housing prices in the tri-county area have all been moving in one direction. They’ve been going up. Last month was the first time in 3 years that the average sales price decreased. When compared on a year-to-year basis, prices fell by more than $34,000. Here are all the sales numbers from July for single family residences.

Luxury Market sees Increase of Homes Going Under Contract in July
July sent mixed messages about the current conditions of the housing market. Even though the number of homes that closed in the month were down on a year-to-year basis, the number of homes that went under contract during the same time increased. Last month deals were reached on 77 luxury properties. That’s an increase of 29% when compared to July of 2022. Read more
