The Cape Fear region is a haven for history lovers. All around the area, there are statues, memorials, and historic markers that pay tribute to the past. And, of course, there are homes—antebellum, Queen Anne-style, and hundred-year-old farmhouses—each capturing a unique period in time. In April, two historic properties with remarkable stories entered the market.
America’s Best Bed and Breakfast is for Sale
Located at 412 Third Street in downtown Wilmington, this estate is the city’s longest continuously operated bed and breakfast. Listed by Jeffrey Hovis of Intracoastal Realty Corp, the property has an asking price of $2,435,000. Built in 1893, the home was purchased by a couple in 2022 who completely remodeled it, updating the accommodations and incorporating modern conveniences. The Original Lewis Farm House hits the market
Lewis Farms is a third-generation family property located in Rocky Point, North Carolina. Originally established as a family farm with a house built in 1913, the Lewis family opened their land to the public about half a century later, allowing visitors to pick strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Each year, thousands of visitors—many with young children—flock to the farm for an outdoor, family-friendly adventure. However, most patrons are unaware that the original Lewis family home still stands, tucked away on land adjacent to the fields open to the public.
The 3,600-square-foot Southern classic farmhouse was listed on April 12 by Brandon Edens of Keller Williams Innovate-Pleasure Island. The property includes 8.8 acres of land and has an asking price of $875,000. The home features a rebuilt front porch, restored original hardwood flooring, ten-foot tongue-and-groove ceilings, a new roof installed in 2019, a kitchen remodeled in 2022, and an expansive 16×40 workshop behind the home
